“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert
Monday August 10 2015:
Waiting for Monday to arrive was probably the only thing I have been looking forward to all summer (after a rough summer it has been) But once the day arrived I was stocked. I finished packing (more like began packing) made sure I had it all and didn't forget anything (of course I forgot something; my fisheye lens for my phone camera and my HDMI cord for the laptop in case we wanted to watch stuff on the hotel tv) but despite that, we arrived to the airport. They checked us and that process wasn't too bad.
I was not too worried about flying but once I was walking into the airplane I began to panic a bit. Once the captain announced we were about to take off then it hit me. I had a window seat and I was worried that I would get dizzy or something along those lines. The plane began to get speed really quickly, one could feel the speed but before I knew, we were already in the air. The flight was short (2 hours 40 minutes) I watched parts of different movies on my laptop (Budapest Hotel, Star Wars V, Inception) but the my seat was next to the right wing so you could not hear anything.
The landing was not too bad neither I was expecting something like a roller coaster which I hate but it was quite smooth not as I pictured it. We got picked up @ the airport in Leon. We stopped for some tacos before we head out but went in the back of the pick up truck (it was a 2 hour drive to our destination) it was actually a cool experience. I have never seen the stars the way I'd seen them that night. Since the road was completely dark, the only light is from oncoming traffic.
One of our friends who came to picked us up was telling us stories about celebrities he has met since he manages a nightclub but he also told us some stories regarding the violence or how narcs go up to him with guns and tell him that they can have a shooting here if he wants one. They were scary stories but idk if he was trying to show off or was just trying to make us realize what's up. Every town has its good and bad so it wasn't going to change my perception about the town before i checked it out for myself. We arrived at the house, and got ready for bed because we were exhausted and wanted to get good energy for day 2.
